Xanthan gum is a polysaccharide with many industrial uses, including as a common food additive. It is an effective thickening agent and stabilizer to for natural dyes. Xanthan Gum is produced from different simple sugars using a fermentation process. To make a thickened paste use 1-2% of Xanthan Gum in dye solutions (10-20gms per Litre) This can be varied depending on the required vicscosity. Xanthan Gum may be used as a subsitute for Gum Tragacanth or Guar Gum.
